Media Music Magazine - House Style and Fonts for magazine.

As I have chose the name of my magazine, I need to decide on which fonts to use and what colours to use throught.

Here are a number of house styles I may use for my magazine;

These are the colours I have chose, my final choice is number 3. I will use this throughout my magazine and maybe even other shades of purple and blue to make this professional.

At first, I tired the colour scheme I chose but it didn't suit and the image I had did not look right. So I changed the colour scheme, I used pinks and grays, I used these colours throughout my magazine so it looked professional. However, when I had completed my magazine I noticed that I had used a colour which dominates towards females so my magazine would possible have a target audience of the female gender.

In my magazine, I used three different fonts to make my magazine stand out. On my front cover I used STLiti & Bradley Hand ITC. I decided to use STLiti for the name of my magazine as it is a curly and strong font which could easily get the audiences attention. For the Headline, Kicker and the Plug I used Bradley Hand ITC as it is a curly font and it does also stand out.

Media Music Magazine - Names for Magazine.

Once I had recorded the results for my questionnaire, I had to start thinking about names for my Music Magazine. I thought about the following names;

  • Reckless
  • Impulse
  • Wireless
  • World Wide
  • Beatz
The name I chose for my magazine was Impulse, but instead of having an "I", I would use a musical note "♪" this would create a good impression and look good as my magazine is musical and people would understand the meaning behind it.

I also had to think about names for bands which would be on the cover of my magazine and inside my magazine. I wanted the names to have an edgy feel about them so i came up with a few names;

  • The Broken
  • Frozen Shore
  • Risky Love
  • Vintage
  • Musik, Geld, Magie - Music Money Magic.
The band which will be on my front cover is going to be either Vintage or The Broken, as these have an edgy feel.

Questionnaire for Music Magazine

I had created a college magazine for a preliminary task to see what other students thought about the styles I had used in it. I had used a common house style to create the magazine. the colours I had used were Autumn colours which gave my magazine an Autumn affect. With the use of Picnik my magazine came together.

For our next task, we have to create a music magazine for fellow students at college for them to read and then give a review on it. Before I started creating my magazine, I created a questionnaire to hand out to everyone and then collected them in. Once I had all of the questionnaires back, I decided to make a table and record the results i received.

Here is the questionnaire I handed out to everyone in my class.

Healthy & Safety using RedHeads

  • Extremely fragile - when transporting use the bag and padding. Do not knock them; two people should carry them at all times.
  • Hot! Take extreme care when handling the lights. They get very hot.
  • Do not cover them with anything.
  • Do not look straight into the lights
  • Switch off when not in use.
  • The bulbs are very expensive and break easily. Extreme care should be taken.
  • Tape down the cables

Preliminary Task - College Magazine.

Unlike everyone else in my media class, I decided I would do my front cover and contents page on a website called Picnik which is an editing website.

The front cover image is an image of Hannah with leaves blowing around her, this is a very Autumny picture. I decided to edit this image to make the background more vibrant and colourful. To go along with this theme I decided I would use orange and a mustard yellow colour for my text with black behind it to give it a drop shadow effect. the style of font i decided to use was Bleeding Cowboys a gothicy type of font which also looks effective with the colours of the text and the background. I like the way i have edited this photo so that all the colours link together and have a common colour scheme.

On my contents page, I used an image of Guisborough Priory with a coffin with the lid sligjtly to a slant. At first I thought this image would be front page material but then I decided it would be better to have a girl on the front and an image of the local area on the contents page. I decided to edit this image so it also had a gothicy edge about it, I also decided I would use the same font as the front cover and the same colours as the colours also suited the image I had chosen.

I like the look of my front cover and contents page as they are edgy and look detailed enough to be an actuall magazine. I think that other students would buy this magazine due to the fact it has current stories and students will be able to get involved with the stories.

PLEASE LEAVE YOUR COMMENTS ON WHAT YOU THINK.

Niche Markets.

In previous tasks I have been analysing images of Pixie Lott but in this task I am going to analyse the genre of music Pixie is in and the way in which she dresses and how it is represented to the people who like her music. I am also going to discuss who may have influenced Pixie and her style.

Pixie's style may have been influenced by Blondie aka Debbie Harry with the platinum blonde hair and the smile, she may have also been influenced by X-Factors Diana Vickers, who also has platinum blonde hair. However when it comes to fashion style Blondie wore a lot of plain coloured clothes with knee high boots which were in style when she was well known now a days Pixie has a common fashion style, she wears clothes which are in trend and what every girl would like to be seen in and possibly even buy.

The genre of music she writes can be glassed as pop princess, and it is music which lots of people like due to the fact the words in her songs are very catchy and also the music has a very upbeat tempo. I like the music Pixie writes and how it sounds due to the fact it is my kind of music, i like the lyrics she writes as they are meaningful and are good songs. I also like the clothes Pixie wears as it is current and what all girls want

NME Analysis

The target audience for this issue of "NME" magazine, is for people who not only like indie music but also like Oasis as this issue is mostly about the fight between Noel and Liam Gallagher and why the well known band Oasis split up in August 2009 just before they were due to go on stage at a Summer Festival.
I think the age range for this magazine is teenagers, it may be aimed at both genders depending on who is on the front of the cover, for this magazine I think the main target audience is people who were Oasis fans and want to know why they decided to split, from the image on the from it looks contriverisal due to the fact they both have a serious look on their faces.
The three main colours of this magazine are Red, Black and White. The colour red denotes that there is a sense of danger and urgency about the magazine and also may denote a sense of blood.
On the cover there is other stories which are in the magazine and they are in the same colour scheme as the rest of the magazine. This links to the colours of clothes which Noel and Liam Gallagher are wearing. There is one made headline "Rock's Messiest Bust Ups" and many other kickers about what is in the magazine, this gives the audience an insight on what is also in the magazine and persuades them to buy it.

Practising using the cameras for College Magazine

As a group of four we were given a task, for this task we had to go out in the College grounds a take a number of photographs of different things.

Throughout the task we had to use various camera techniques including long shot, close up and framing. here are a number of photos we took with the camera and information about the shots we used.

For this photograph we as a group decided we would all stand on two benches with two of us on each bench, it is a full body shot. to get this picture like this we put the camera ontop of a bin and put it on a self timer.
Overall we liked this picture as we were all in it and all smiling, it is a decent picture.

This pciture is a high angle shot, we used two of our fingers and created a star shape. We held the camera high above to get this shape and the table in the background. This image shows a group of friends creating an image and interpreting our own imagination.

This photograph contains all four of us as a group, we decided to all fit into one mirror and have the tallest person take the picture. I decided to edit the picture so it was straight and so it was smaller. As a group we liked this picture.

Analysis of Pixie Lott.

Pixie Lott:
Birth Name: Victoria Louise Lott
Date of Birth: 12/01/91
Birth Place: Bromley, London

Having an older brother and sister and two loving parents, Lott was given the nickname of 'Pixie' as her mother thought she looked like a fairy.
At the age of 5, Lott started signing at Italia Conti Associates Saturday, although she did move on to the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts due to the fact she was awarded a scholarship, however when she was 13 she moved to Brentwood, Essex with her family. While she was a student, she also performed in the West End Production Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and BBC One's Celebrate The Sound Of Music. Despite missing a lot of time at school at the age of 16 because of recording her album "Turn It Up", she achieved all 'A's' in her GCSE's.
She is currently signed to Mercury Records in the UK and to Interscope Records in the US, Pixie has also had to sign a publishing deal as a songwriter with Sony.

Pixie Lott is portrayed as a girlie girl who adores fashion and looking glam, we can also see from the picture that she has a direct mode of address as if the photographer was only interested in her face they would have took a head and shoulders shot, but they are also interested in her sense of fashion. The clothes she is wearing are quite flattering as it is a simple top which she has glammed up with statement jewellery.

In this picture, we see Pixie once again looking on trend with this seasons fashion, as it is a full shot the photographer wants to show the audience the full picture and what her style of clothing is like so girls and women who idolise Pixie can try and copy her style. As Pixie is smiling, she is obviously happy to be seen on the streets and likes to be classed as the same as everyone not just a rich pop star, she may be happy that the press have seen her looking like this.

Unlike the previous two pictures of Pixie looking glamours this is a picture of her looking not so glamorous, this is a natural shot of her with spots and no make up. Although she is wearing no make up many people would say she looks "rough" but she is just a normal teenage girl who goes through the same as every other girl. She may be proud to go out like this as girls may be inspired to be themselves.
